All of these paintings were completed out of doors in one or more sessions. Perhaps B. Eric Rhoads, Publisher of Plein Air Magazine said it best. "The skill, experience and effort required to do a great painting in one sitting wet-on-wet is very rare; and it is more difficult and much different from the skill required to work in the studio. Plein-air works require enormous effort as painters fight the constantly changing light and moving shadows, burning sun and glare, rain and wind, bugs, animals and outlookers."
